11,542 feet at the top of Hoosier Pass. The highest point on the TransAm Trail. Here, we found a note for
us from Dave Spitzer, a teacher from Wisconsin, who was trying to meet up with us.  We caught him later that
day in Hartsel.  He had to make better time than us in order to get home before the school year started, but
he left us "Burma Shave" type messages in chalk on the road for many more days.
