The TransAm trail was originally called the Bikecentennial trail and was originally routed out in
celebration of our nation's bicentennial in 1976.  Hundreds of people crossed the nation that
first year.  This is one of the original route signs near Boonesville, KY.  There aren't many
original signs left.  We remember seeing three.
